1. You can turn your smartphone into a brick. Well, not literally, but if you goof up the rooting process, meaning the code modifications, your phone software can get so damaged that your phone will basically be as useless as a brick.


 2. Your phone warranty turns void. It’s legal to root your phone; however, if you do it, your device gets straight out of warranty. Say you root your phone and some time after that, you experience a phone malfunction – hardware or software related. Because of the Android rooting, the warranty is no longer valid, and the manufacturer will not cover the damages.


 3. Malware can easily breach your mobile security. Gaining root access also entails circumventing the security restrictions put in place by the Android operating system. Which means worms, viruses, spyware and Trojans can infect the rooted Android software if it’s not protected by effective mobile antivirus for Android. There are several ways these types of malware get on your phone: drive-by downloads, malicious links, infected apps you download from not so reputable app stores. Where do you find all these root-only gems? Amazingly enough, many of them are still in the Google Play app store. Google's much more relaxed about rooting than Apple is about jailbreaking. Some apps, like Tasker, work for factory-shipped devices as well, but get expanded superpowers when you root.

Dammit, why am I always three updates behind. This may be the most common complaint among Android users, less than half of whom have made it as far as Ice Cream Sandwich. Between the Google, the carriers, and the hardware manufacturers, there are a whole lot of shenanigans behind closed doors that determines when (or if) your phone gets an upgrade. Who has the patience?

Android's developer community, on the other hand, is a hardcore bunch. Android enthusiasts rightly hate the software skins that hardware manufacturers use to brand their devices. They're often bulky, ugly, unwieldy, or just downright not as clean and functional as stock Android. They're also a big reason those OS updates take so long. You're almost always better off without.


So root! Once you do, you can download and install any number of custom-built ROMs (different versions of the Android firmware). Some of them are highly customized and tweaked to add features, and others are basically just stock Android. Cleaning off an ugly skin can be like a breath of fresh air.
 


4. Bloat Banishment

Android phones are plagued not only with OEM skins, but with a fistful of superflous apps that you don't want and will never use. Generally, they're just things to get you more entrenched in the carrier's ecosystem. The best part? You can't remove them. In Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean) devices, you can disable those apps so you don't see them, but they're still there, taking up space. Once you've rooted your phone, you can use Titanium Backup to delete them once and forever. Just be careful you don't accidentally delete something that your phone actually needs, or you'll be sorry.
 


5. Speed/Battery Life Boosts

Phone starting to get laggy? Or maybe you're having trouble making it through the day on a single charge? Rooting allows you to install customized kernels (the software that enables the OS to talk to the hardware, basically) that are optimized differently. Some are made for low-power consumption, and some are built for speed. You can also use an app like Set CPU, which enables you to overclock or underclock your phone's processor, and set rules for usage.

For example, you can set your processors to go into overdrive when you're playing a graphically intensive game, but have them draw the bare minimum power when the screen is off.
 


6. Extreme Customization

Android is already the most customizable mobile OS out there, which is one of its big draws, but if you root your phone you can really go nuts. If you want a total change, you can download custom ROMs that look nothing like Android at all. Want your device to navigable entirely by gestures? No problem, just install GMD Gesture Control (see video). Prefer a sliding keyboard when you're in portait mode, but a tapping, predictive keyboard when you're in landscape. Keyboard Manager will automatically switch between your keyboards of choice whenever you rotate your phone. You can also add features like widgets in your notification bar, or can change the way certain features look or behave, like the lock screen, or notification bar. The sky's the limit.

9. Better Backup

There are apps out there that  back up your phone, but generally it's pretty surface level stuff (contacts, pictures, music, etc.). Once rooted you can go way, way deeper. Grab an app called Titanium Backup. Not only can it back up all of your apps, but it can back up all of the information stored in those apps. So if you've been doing great in Temple Run but you want to wipe your phone and start fresh, you can use Titanium to back up and then restore the game, and you'll be right where you left off. It's a nice security blanket if you're going to be messing around deep in your phone's brain.

In spite of all these benefits, only you know whether rooting is right for you. For some people it's just not worth the time and effort. For others, it's a godsend that allows them to use their phones in a better way and for a longer time. If you decide to take the plunge, read up and make sure you follow instructions carefully. After that, go hog wild. It's your phone, after all.

 Android rooting is the process of allowing users of smartphones, tablets, and other    devices running the Android mobile operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem.



       Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming
limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices,         
resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications

and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level
 permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise
inaccessible to a normal Android user. On Android, rooting can
also facilitate the complete removal and replacement of the
device's operating system, usually with a more recent release of
its current operating system.

As Android derives from the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device
 gives similar access administrative permissions as on Linux or any
 other Unix-like operating system such as FreeBSD or OS X.

Root access is sometimes compared to jail breaking devices running              
 the Apple iOS operating system. However, these are different
concepts. Jailbreaking describes the bypass of several types of
Apple prohibitions for the end user: modifying the operating
system (enforced by a "locked bootloader"), installing non-officially
 approved apps via sideloading, and granting the user elevated
 administration-level privileges. Only a minority of Android devices
 lock their bootloaders—and many vendors such as HTC, Sony, Asus and
 Google explicitly provide the ability to unlock devices, and even
 replace the operating system entirely. Similarly, the ability
 to sideload apps is typically permissible on Android devices without
 root permissions. Thus, it is primarily the third aspect of iOS
jailbreaking relating to giving users superuser administrative
privileges that most directly correlates to Android rooting.

Thankfully, there's a new Windows utility that makes rooting a
 one-click affair: Kingo Android Root. It's free, and based on my
 initial tests with a Virgin Mobile Supreme, it works like a charm.
 (Be sure to check the compatibility list before you proceed, keeping
 in mind that although the Supreme wasn't on it, the utility had no
problem with it.) Here's how to get started.


             


Step one: Download and install Kingo Android Root(http://download.cnet.com/Kingo-Android-Root/3000-2094_4-75996768.html)

Step two: Enable USB debugging mode on your phone. If it's running Android 4.0 or 4.1, tap Settings, Developer Options,
 then tick the box for "USB debugging." (You may need to switch "Developer options" to On before you can do so.) On
Android 4.2 and later, tap Settings, About Phone, Developer Options, and then tick USB debugging." Then tap OK to
approve the setting change.

Step three: Run Android Root on your PC, then connect your phone via its USB sync cable. After a moment, the former
 should show a connection to the latter.

Step four: Click Root, then sit back and wait while the utility does its thing. The aforementioned Supreme
 took all of about two minutes, including the automated reboot at the end.

And that's all there is to it. If you decide you want to reverse the process, just run Android Root again,
 connect your phone, then click Remove Root.

     Hi! Guys, this trick will help you hide your private file or folder easily in few steps.
Using this trick,it is even not possible to open the hidden file or folder by using the
search option, which means that your file will be fully protected from others working on
the same computer.

It's only a few step process.......just try it out........!!!!!


1. Press window key + R , or go to start and click run, 
   Run command dialog box appears.

It will be a black box of this type , maybe not of the same type in some operating systems..
                                   


2. Now type "cmd" and hit enter. A command prompt window appears.
 

3. Now type attrib +s +h E:\myfolder and hit enter.
   The folder "myfolder" w ill be hidden which cannot be view ed by any search options.


4. To view this folder again, use the same command but replace '+' with '-' on both flags 's' and 'h'

If you are using Microsoft’s Internet explorer, then you might be aware of IDM (Internet Download Manager). This is a utility app as it acts as a single organizational platform for multiple downloads. If you have been a loyal user of IE for a long time, you also have not forgotten those days when you have to restart your whole download, if download is interrupted (due to connection loss or due to power cut). In all these circumstances IDM is more than useful.



Newer IDMs are also going well with other browsers also. There are number of download managers are available in the market (Flashget, Speedbit). Still IDM is best among them. It increases the download speed as compared to custom download from IE. Still, you are not satisfied with the increased speed provided by the very shareware developed by Tonec Inc. then here are certain tips, tricks and precautions. If you are using OS from UNIX Like family you can go for Download Manager for Linux.

Precautions:

· There are two basic setups you have to take into consideration. One is a software- Firewall and a hardware- Router. For efficient use of download manager, you should add exception for IDM in setup of firewall and router.

· Update your Anti-virus regularly, so that your setup and soft wares can be protected from any outside attack.


Tricks:


1. Double click the icon IDM, choose “Option” in the “Download Menu”. Then click on “Connections”. Choose “Connection Type” and select LAN 10Mbs. This trick will work for connections having speed of 10Mbs or above. If you are using less then 10Mbs connection then in connection tab, Select “other” as connection type and “999999bps” as speed.


How to Speed-Up IDM?


2. Double click the icon IDM, choose “Option” in the “Download Menu”. Then click on “Speed”. Find Maximum Connection Number (Max. Conn. Number). Choose 16. Then go to Registry Edit, select HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Download Manager>Connection Speed>Select Decimal> Connect to..xxx..> Press Ok. This trick will work universally on all IDM. It can speed up IDM 2x to 3x.

Tips:
Here you have an option of software called IDM Optimizer.

To use it.

- Download IDM Optimizer.

- After installing, open it, you will find a window with two options at bottom. 1. Maximize now 2. Restore Default. Select first option.

- Now, you are equipped with optimized IDM.


IDM installs itself in your system via two mechanisms. Either there is a full fledged version that installs directly into your hard drive, or there are certain set ups by which you can install IDM into your browser. The later is known as hook mechanism. E.g. Java Script Run software. We advise you to install a full version of IDM for better results.
